Wedkantoor ook komende twee seizoenen hoofdsponsor Valencia

 Unibet wil ‘noodlijdende’ eredivisieclubs helpen

Malta, 5 juni 2009 – Online wedkantoor Unibet is ook de komende twee seizoenen hoofdsponsor van Valencia. Het huidige contract met de Spaanse topclub wordt verlengd. Naast shirtsponsoring verzorgt Unibet onder meer reclame op billboards, online advertising en ondersteunt het ook verschillende acties van en voor supporters. ”Dergelijke contracten willen we ook afsluiten met Nederlandse eredivisieclubs, maar het Nederlandse kansspelbeleid staat dat vooralsnog niet toe. Jammer, zeker als je kijkt naar het huidige miljoenentekort van de Eredivisie CV waarin de clubs zich verzameld hebben”, aldus Christophe Dhaisne.

Uit een artikel van BNR Nieuwsradio blijkt dat de Eredivisie CV in het eerste seizoen van het vorig jaar vernieuwde televisierechtencontract is aangelopen tegen een tekort van 15 miljoen euro. Om het gat te dichten wordt er onder meer gesproken over het binnenhalen van meer abonnees voor Eredivisie Live. Christophe Dhaisne: ”Ook hier kunnen wij een rol spelen. Door wedmogelijkheden toe te voegen aan het kanaal creëer je een extra inkomstenbron.”

Mogelijkheden
Het vertrouwen dat Valencia heeft in Unibet is een steun in de rug voor de ambities van het wedkantoor. Christophe Dhaise: ”We zijn blij dat we de bestaande deal met een van de beste clubs in Europa kunnen verlengen. Daarnaast sponsoren we Paris Saint Germain en Club Brugge. Momenteel bekijken we in landen waar de kansspelmarkt verder wordt geopend, zoals Frankrijk, Zweden en Denemarken, de mogelijkheden voor nieuwe sponsorproposities.”

Absolute top
In de afgelopen Spaanse competitie is Valencia, met Hedwiges Maduro binnen de gelederen, als 6e geëindigd. De club speelt voorrondes voor de Europa League. Christophe Dhaisne: ”Valencia heeft een redelijk seizoen gedraaid. Maar als het aan ons ligt, brengen we de club met onze ondersteuning naar de absolute top van Spanje.”
